I am an artist who works mainly in oils, although I also work in other media such as drawing and water colour. Alot of my work is based on landscape. Ranging from places close to where I live in Bedfordshire, the dramatic coast lines of Dorset and Pembrokeshire to work taken from trips to places further afield such as France and Portugal. Rather than attempting to create a direct likeness of the subject I am working from I am more concerned with trying to convey the character of the landscape, In many of the places I was interested in the geology of the landscape how it had been formed and how it was being shaped by the elements.

As well as work based on Landscape some of my recent work has been on the theme of crowds. Based on places such as busy streets, markets and airport lounges the work breaks the subject down into simplified forms and abstracted patterns.

I am interested in the process of painting and enjoy experimenting with different ways of handling materials.I often use different media to develop my work such as collage watercolour and coloured chalks. I am also interested in exploring different ways of using colour. Composition plays an important part in my work and I like the work to have a sense of form and structure.

I see my work as constantly evolving and would like to be able to keep developing the work, learning new things as I do so.
